*this game contains a third party eula compact between users players and developers of unreal development kit 3 games.
*game has 1 minute worth of movie sequences a large map and a working multiplayer component that takes place on one screen. comma teleports player 1 to player 2. r teleports player 2 to player 1. the game should be worth 3 dollars
multiplayer has been tested succesfully at 1080p and 4k. smaller screens such as the steam deck may work at 720p if both players are playing on a small portable screen such as a steam deck. 720p and below are not tested for multiplayer. fov adjust depending on resolution. playing at a lower resolution is more about getting a closer view of the movie sequences which also look good at the selected field of view for 1080p. each fov takes advantage of the resolution advantage of each resolution.
*although two steam decks can be host and client through remote play together. the fov isn't high enough on steam deck to help you find the second player on the same screen should they get lost. that being said you can see small details in 720p on the steam decks screen but if player 2 moves too far to the left or right. you may need to teleport them to your position using r or be warped to their position using comma.
steam deck compatibility: tested with proton 9.0.4
Summary:
say no to splitscreen multiplayer. all the multiplayer takes place on the same screen on the same tv locally. you don't need two tv's or internet to play local multiplayer
*assuming you copy the game's files from the Steam install folder or better yet run them by clicking the run 1080p etc bats without using Steam. then you can definetly play without an internet connection.
Have you ever wanted to explore a deep and endless ocean instead of fighting your enemies. have you ever? You know what I've always wondered about porcupine sex. They have all those quills and poison. It just seems dangerous to me and yet I've never heard of any porcupines dying from sex in the span of human history. Its just something we never really think about.
what can you do: you can explore a massive map in udk 3. the map is bigger than a typical udk 3 map so it was challenging to make it extend as far as it does without running into engine limitations it's probably about 5 miles.
the game does something clever architecturally. the game doesn't use mipmaps or level of detail. all the assets are always the same resolution. but because the engine is so old it runs great on a variety of hardware even modern Celerons. ive played it on a 7700t but that's not a good example because I can play gta 5 on that.
basic gameplay: this is redundant the rest of the game info is more entertaining, provides more info if you want to get a honest view of what it's like to play the game.
the game has 1 minute of in engine cutscenes. one about me talking about porcupine sex the other about abortion. in order for player 2 to activate movie sequences they have to teleport you to their location when there near one of the people that does the comedy bits. reaching the end of the map gives you an achievement. listening to both comedy bits in full and reaching the end of the map is currently the extent of tbe achievements.
the idea is to explore the map but a friend can also follow on the same screen in local multiplayer meaning no internet connection is required to play together but with steam remote play together you can play with a friend over the internet. you can also use other software as well to do the same thing.
we chose to use remote play together because of it's support for steam deck. essentially you can drop objects on the ground that eliminate the other players health they also cause you to move to the other players position. those items have different collision ranges than the things you attack people with that move. the map is large and the movie sequences are entertaining and can be explored with a friend. with the amount of content in the game we are selling the game for 3 dollars. you can see a solar eclipse by activating a switch in the game.
play local multiplayer on the same screen as friends on the same tv.
you can place things on the screen that kill instantly or you can fire both horizontal and vertical objects.
there are two in engine sequences that can be discovered. one about porcupine sex. the other about abortion. the game cost 3 dollars at the moment. if you play with friends it may be worthwhile. the in engine sequences are funny and well animated and there's always a massive world to move across.
the two movie sequences are triggered by moving close to a person on the map. there is an achievement for each movie sequence and a third achievement for reaching the end of the map.
well it's been a long ride. the game was originally based on unreal tournament 3 but those assets have now been removed.
you can now fly an ungodly speed across the map faster than sonic. you can also discover the secret of porcupine sex with friends and explore a huge map all on a single screen.
Steam windows 7 obsolescence:
the game is designed with windows 10 and 11 in mind. however the game is drm free and the game does work on windows 7 service pack 2 64 bit. when Steam stops working on windows 7. this game will still be launchable from the steamapps folder without launching Steam so youll always be able to play it. although the game is not designed around 32 bit. it makes extensive use of memory. the game can possibly be played in 32 bit. just go to binaries/32bit/udk to give it a go. 32 bit is not officially supported.
game can be played with 1 or two players. both players play on the same screen. the fov is adjusted depending on resolution.
you don't have to spawn your 2nd player into the game. the 2nd player spawns next to player 1 immediately when the game starts. this uses up no resources. if for some reason you start playing as player 1 but you want player 2 to join you. you can press r to teleport player 2 to player 1 or comma to teleport yourself back to player 2.
the game takes place on a single screen and can be played on a single tv. 4k is recommended for multiplayer. even 8k is but it has not been tested. in theory it should be a great experience.
when playing on a 8k screen tilt the view forward so you can't see behind you. this gives you full advantage of the fantastic field of view that is used for 8k.
m exits the game mainly used as a safeguard in case someone uses the steam deck bat on windows.
7 720p windowed this setting is only for steam deck this setting causes glitches when used in windows os useful for using utilities like my utility process linux for steam deck. process linux for steam deck can be found can be found in community hub discussions warning about steam deck support
8 720p fullscreen windowed this setting is only for steam deck this setting causes glitches when used in windows os
the multiplayer part of this game is 2 player only.
what if I want to play with two players?
there are several options.
you can share one keyboard. with player 1 controlling the camera with the mouse
you can use two keyboards and a mouse or two keyboards and two mice.
you can play through parsec or steam remote play together.
if using steam remote play together to play with a steam deck if using a 720p resolution then you should only play with another steam deck or other portable device such as another 720p portable device. the screen using the highest resolution needs to be host.
you can play with steam deck and a pc with a higher resolution just make sure the pc with the higher resolution is host.
test are still being run to determine if 720p gaming is possible in multiplayer. on steam deck things are easy to see on the 720p screen. since everything takes place on a single screen seeing details far away is very important. 4k seems to do a good job of this on a large screen but on a smaller screen 720p may be possible.
