IMPUNES - about the game

IMPUNES is an open-world game set in Brazil offering a unique proposition: a roleplay-sandbox where you choose your own paths and game rules. It's infinitely expandable with content from us or the community.

Setting

Discover the city of Canário, located in the state of Santa Camila, a gradient from luxury to decay, where powerful businessmen and politicians dominate the city through the use of power and corruption.

Luxury cars and skyscrapers, ostentation that contrasts with the lower classes, all set in a beautiful beach town surrounded by hills with trails through dense forest and a river that flows into the sea.

A map with a complete and realistic structure, offering the experience of being in a real city.

Explore various sights and activities through mini-games scattered across the game world.

Experience changing weather, with seasons and periodic events based on an internal calendar.

Nature featuring a fauna and flora with literally hundreds of Brazilian species.

Vehicles

A variety of vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, trucks, boats, bicycles, and scooters, all featuring original fictional designs inspired by Brazilian vehicles: modern, old, and historic.

Many variations and tuning customizations, including automotive sound systems and manual application of customizable stickers.

Feel like your vehicle is truly yours, with dynamic systems for dust, mud, paint wear, polishing, and more.

Characters

Our own character editor: Create your protagonist and play as them: whether male or female, fat or thin, young or old. The game will adapt to your character, and your actions may lead to changes.

Dozens of clothing items, hairstyles, and beards, along with hundreds of prints and tattoos. All customizable with your own images.

Pedestrians and mission/quest characters use the same system, making it easy to include public figures and parodies in community content.

Weapons

Dozens of fictional weapons inspired by those commonly found in Brazil, ranging from pocket knives and pistols to anti-tank cannons. Secret homemade weapons are also included.

Buy weapons illegally and customize them with new parts and paint jobs, all through an immersive van owned by a somewhat patriotic dealer.

Realistic dirt, wear, and ammunition systems, featuring a ballistic system that simulates projectile physics, including air resistance and material penetration, with the ability to pass through walls and reach internal organs.

Gameplay

Light, semi-realistic gameplay with optional realistic elements available as configurable "Rules".

Two predefined options: Arcade and Simulation, both fully customizable to your preferences. For example, weapons can be visible or hidden on the body, cars can have limited fuel, and hunger and thirst can be managed. Mods can further expand the mechanics, including inventory items.

Many advanced proprietary systems bring the game world to life, inspired by other great titles; we value attention to detail.

Roleplay

A roleplay system, legal or illegal, where your actions determine whether you become Upright or Unpunished (from the game's name in Portuguese).

The more Upright or Unpunished your character becomes, the more new mechanics and paths are unlocked—such as good citizen mechanics and jobs, or criminal contacts for additional illicit missions.

You can buy land and build your own businesses, whether legal or illegal, or simply a small house to live in, choosing the design and furnishing it to your liking.

Your character's money truly has value: it won't be easy to buy that new car or an apartment in a luxury building.

The police and media take notice of you: when you're arrested, a full scene at the police station and news coverage will play out, dynamically based on your actions.

Replayable

Each character has their own story and extensive stats. Tired? Start a "new world" to write a new character's story. Want something more realistic, like a simulation? Or something more arcade-like? Try Hardcore mode with permanent death. IMPUNES strives to be a highly replayable game.

Narrative(s)

Initially, IMPUNES is designed as a non-linear or semi-linear free-roam role-playing game, without a single main story, but with its own lore where your character follows their own path. However, we, along with the community, will also create multiple new stories, including specific characters with unique personalities, all made possible through our character editor and auxiliary tools.

Since we don't limit ourselves to a single story, both we and our community can create new stories with different themes, such as drama, humor, or racing, whether short or long, or even standalone missions playable with any character. For example, a quest referencing a meme or real-world event.

In this way, IMPUNES will be infinitely expandable depending on its success. We don't intend to sell stories as DLC; they will simply be accessible within the game for you to choose and play, and will also be open source.

Mods, Addons, Community Content

IMPUNES is an indie game developed by a team that grew up modding games, so it's only natural that we fully support mods.

  • External scripting using Lua programming: we want even beginner programmers to be able to code new content into the game, such as jobs, missions, environments, or even new mechanics through new inventory items. Official scripts will be open source, allowing community programmers to learn from and build upon them.

  • Installation of vehicle addons: a Blender plugin allows you to adapt and export cars, bikes, and more directly into the game, enabling you to replace or expand the vehicle fleet.

  • Installation of other objects: using the same Blender plugin, you'll be able to adapt and export various types of objects, such as weapons, inventory items, and other assets useful for expanding the game map or for use in jobs, missions, and more.

  • Future Plans: In the long term, we want anyone, even without programming knowledge, to be able to create missions or complete stories entirely within the game using a visual interface. These creations will be shareable for others to play, rate, and enjoy. Our goal is for IMPUNES to grow into a platform for community-driven storytelling. We also plan to integrate these features with Steam.

2nibble is a Brazilian startup founded by a small team of game lovers. We're not a mercenary company. We're gamers, just like you.

IMPUNES is a low-budget indie game, so don't expect it to compete with or be compared to million-dollar titles. We're simply trying to make our dreams come true, and we'll do our best to deliver an honest, quality product, even if it takes years.

As of August 2025, after nearly three years of active development, the project still operates on a low budget, with limited media support and a small team of developers working in their free time for free. We've invested tens of thousands of dollars of our own money and turned down high-level job opportunities to keep this dream alive.
