Captain Bones is an open-world action-adventure role-playing game with survival mechanics. The game takes place in the Caribbean during the era of pirates and follows the story of an ordinary crew member who becomes the captain of their own ship and crew after their pirate ship sinks, leaving them stranded on a deserted island. The character is cursed to turn into a skeleton at night, and the storyline revolves around their attempt to lift the curse while facing challenging and surprising situations.
Players must gather items from the islands to create their own weapons, food, and rafts in order to survive. The game features a unique skill tree that provides reverse development to reduce the negative effects of the curse, allowing the character to eventually use it to their advantage.
