About Byte & Brew

Byte & Brew - about the game

Byte & Brew is an upcoming dystopian exploration game about making coffee, learning about your customers, the city, and influencing it through your actions.

You play as a robot, built to run a coffee shop and to serve customers. Learn about events happening in the city, or just little pieces about peoples lives. After your shift for the day is over, explore the city, make small changes that could lead to large outcomes, or improve your coffee shop.

Serve Coffee

Serve coffee to customers and try to keep them satisfied. You'll need to earn enough money to not only pay your bills, but to also pay off your own payments to the company.

Use different devices in your shop to grind coffee beans, brew coffee. Customers have different preferences, and ask for various ingredients. Some may like black coffee, while others want milk, sugar, cinnamon, etc. It's up to you to retrieve and prepare those ingredients into a cup of coffee.

Deliver the cup and listen to what the customer has to say. They may like it, or toss it back in your face. They may also talk to you about what's on their mind, about their job, the city, etc. Use this opportunity to learn about the city, or maybe influence what they choose to do.

Explore the City

After the shop closes for the day, this is your time to restock and explore the city. Refill your supplies at the grocery store, spend some time playing minigames at the arcade, or wander around the city and learn about some of its residents.

Discover new places, and the various people in those places. The city is a simulation of all the people within it. People get hungry, eat in their homes or go out for a bite, they grocery shop, go to the arcade. Anything you can do, the people likely do as well.

Discover small stories hidden through the city. As each person goes about their lives, they have their own goals or struggles, interact with those stories through your actions.

Make Change

In Byte & Brew, your actions have consequences. The goal is so that even your small choices can have large impacts. Distract a power plant employee for too long, and the power in the city might start flickering out - after all, they have a job to do.

If the power goes out... who knows what could happen, not only do lights go out, electronics don't work either. Your actions have a cascading effect not only for yourself, but for the city.
