About Arcrelium

Arcrelium - about the game

Arcrelium is a turn-based tactical card-battler developed for PC. Players equip gear that directly shapes their available cards, then navigate a hex grid to control movement, launch attacks, and execute abilities while managing a strict hand-size resource system. The game blends elements of action, strategy, indie development, RPG progression, casual accessibility, and adventure exploration within an Early Access framework.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on deck construction through equipment choices. Equipping a sword populates the hand with combat-focused cards, while switching to a staff replaces those options with healing spells and support effects. This system ensures that every run feels distinct based on the loadout selected at the start and the upgrades discovered along the way.

Combat unfolds on a hexagonal grid where each card resolves into precise positioning, targeted strikes, or area control. Movement, attacks, and special actions all consume cards from the hand, creating constant trade-offs. With a maximum hand size of five cards, playing a high-cost option requires discarding others to cover the expense, which limits follow-up plays in the same turn.

Every turn begins with drawing two fresh cards. When the draw pile empties, the discard pile reshuffles automatically, keeping the economy in motion without additional resources. No two turns unfold identically because the combination of remaining cards, grid positioning, and enemy placement shifts the available decisions each round.

Game Modes

Single-player roguelite runs form the primary experience. Enemies scale in strength across successive encounters, forcing players to adapt tactics and equipment choices as difficulty rises. Some upgrades collected during a run carry over to future attempts, providing incremental meta-progression without resetting all gains.

Multiplayer supports lobbies of two to four participants. Players can cooperate against shared challenges or compete directly in card-and-grid confrontations. Hosting or joining sessions allows friends to test strategies together or pit their decks against one another in the same hex-based arena.

Progression and Equipment

Roguelite elements drive long-term engagement. Stronger foes appear as runs advance, and encounters grow more complex. Persistent upgrades reward repeated play by carrying select improvements between attempts, encouraging experimentation with different gear setups over multiple sessions.

Equipment serves as the foundation for card variety. New pieces found during runs expand the pool of available cards, allowing shifts from aggressive damage output to defensive healing or hybrid approaches. This gear-to-deck linkage rewards careful selection and adaptation to the current battlefield layout.

Is It Worth Playing?

Arcrelium appeals to players who enjoy tactical decision-making in card games combined with grid-based positioning and roguelite structure. The hand-size economy and gear-driven deck building create meaningful choices on every turn, while the hex grid adds spatial depth absent from many deck-builders.

The game enters Early Access soon with a fully playable single-player roguelite mode already in place. Multiplayer features are under active implementation. Those drawn to strategic card combat on a hex battlefield and willing to engage with an evolving title will find the core systems rewarding from the outset.

Fans of opportunity-cost mechanics and persistent progression across runs will appreciate how each decision compounds over a session. The absence of traditional mana or energy pools keeps focus squarely on hand management and positioning, producing tight, replayable encounters suited to both solo and small-group play.
