Backrooms: The Last Record
You are a newly assigned researcher, sent to investigate the disappearance of those who came before you.
The previous research team vanished without explanation, leaving behind scattered documents, unfinished work, and fragments of truth hidden throughout the Backrooms.
Your objective sounds simple:
recover what remains, piece together their findings, and find a way out.
But the deeper you go, the more the Backrooms begin to change.
Spaces distort unnaturally, familiar layouts lose their meaning, and reality itself starts to feel unstable.
What once felt predictable no longer feels safe.
This is not a test.
There is no experiment.
Only what was left behind.
Solo or Cooperative Exploration (Up to 4 Players)
Backrooms: The Last Record can be experienced alone or online with up to four players.
Whether you explore solo or alongside others, the story remains the same.
Working together allows players to search environments more efficiently, solve complex puzzles, and survive encounters that would be overwhelming alone.
However, cooperation is never forced every discovery, every decision, and every consequence is shared.
In the end, it’s not about how many of you enter.
It’s about who makes it out.
Investigation-Driven Progression
Progress is driven by investigation and puzzle solving.
You will uncover documents, recordings, and environmental clues left behind by the missing researchers.
Each record reveals part of what happened and what went wrong.
The truth is fragmented, and understanding it requires careful observation, logical reasoning, and attention to the environment itself.
Nothing is given freely.
Every answer must be earned.
The Backrooms Are Not Empty
Former researchers still roam these spaces changed.
Exposed to entities native to the Backrooms, they have become distorted by contamination, grief, and unresolved resentment.
They recognize you.
Not as colleagues, but as replacements.
Driven by twisted empathy and anger, they will hunt you down, believing that no one should escape what they could not.
Avoid them.
Outmaneuver them.
Survive them.
A World That Defies Logic
The Backrooms do not follow human rules.
Spaces bend, dimensions overlap, and reality grows increasingly dreamlike the longer you remain.
Your goal is not to conquer this place only to escape it, with the truth intact.
But some records were never meant to be found.
And some exits come at a cost.
About the Previous Title
Before The Last Record, the project began as
BACKROOMS: We Escape Forever.
That original release laid the foundation for the world, tone, and core ideas of the Backrooms experience.
The Last Record is a full remake, rebuilding the project with a stronger structure, expanded environments, improved systems, and a deeper focus on investigation-driven horror.
While the core concept remains, this version is designed to deliver a more complete and refined experience.
