Achilles: Survivor is a single-player bullet heaven survival game set in a world of Greek mythology. Players control legendary figures who face endless waves of enemies in fast-paced runs that combine automatic combat with strategic building and character progression.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on surviving timed sessions against hordes of mythological foes. Characters attack automatically while players dodge projectiles and collect experience to level up and select upgrades. A distinctive building system lets survivors place traps, defensive towers, healing structures, and summon allies to control the battlefield and create kill zones. Each run encourages adaptation as enemies increase in number and strength, with permanent meta progression that carries benefits across attempts through favors and upgrades earned even in defeat.
Chimera, the Monstrous Hybrid, enters as an Enchanter survivor who begins every run burning, cursing, and poisoning enemies simultaneously. Her Hybrid Attack unleashes three strikes at once: a piercing fireball that burns foes before exploding, sweeping claws that deal melee damage and apply curse, and a fan of poisonous spikes from her serpent tail. Transformations allow specialization over the course of a run by sharpening claws for stronger close-range attacks, feeding the flame for enhanced fireballs, or trusting the serpent to turn its volley into sweeping tail strikes. Final forms can abandon two parts of the attack to heavily empower the third. Her Goat's Head talent activates every 40 seconds for 15 seconds, granting movement speed and summoning horns that knock enemies aside for frontal protection. Bonus stats include increased maximum health, status strength, and critical damage, favoring builds built around burn, curse, and poison effects.
Game Modes
Runs come in normal length sessions around 20 minutes, shorter 10-minute options, and endless mode for extended survival challenges. Multiple difficulty settings adjust enemy density and intensity. Four distinct realms offer varied biomes and enemy types, with secondary objectives in each location that reward additional resources for permanent upgrades when completed.
Survivors and Progression
Over 15 playable survivors unlock through play, each bringing unique powers and playstyles that reward different approaches to combat and positioning. Meta progression respects player time by granting permanent improvements to characters and structures regardless of run outcome. Challenges and favors further expand options, allowing deeper customization across repeated attempts in the same realms.
Is It Worth Playing?
The game delivers a solid bullet heaven experience with meaningful additions from its building mechanics and Greek mythology theme. Chimera adds a versatile new option for players who enjoy status effects and multi-directional aggression, with clear paths for specialization or balanced play. Reception highlights the addictive core loop, generous content including multiple realms and characters, and strong value. It suits fans of survivors-likes seeking tactical depth through structures and roguelite elements. Those who prefer pure auto-combat without building may find the extra layer less essential, but the overall package supports many hours of replay through varied survivors and modes.
