Good news for anyone still swinging around New York: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is getting more story content, and a new villain is suiting up. Beetle is on deck for the game's DLC, giving players a fresh reason to dive back into Insomniac's superhero blockbuster. Here is what we know.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was one of the standout PlayStation exclusives, a big, polished sequel juggling both Peter Parker and Miles Morales across an expanded New York. Post-launch story DLC is exactly what a lot of players have been hoping for, and a new antagonist stepping in is the perfect hook to bring them back.
The headline is Beetle, a Spider-Man villain who suits up in high-tech armor and gives the wall-crawlers a very different kind of threat to deal with. Adding a fresh antagonist means new missions, new set-pieces, and a reason to put those web-swinging and combat systems back to work in a story that continues beyond the main campaign.
For a game already praised for its spectacle, a new villain like Beetle is a chance for Insomniac to design fresh encounters and show off more of what its Spider-Man engine can do.
Big single-player games living on with meaningful story DLC is always a win, and it signals Insomniac is not done with this world yet. For anyone who finished the main story and wanted an excuse to return, more Spider-Man with a proper new threat is exactly that.
If you somehow have not played it yet, Spider-Man 2 remains one of the best superhero games ever made and an easy recommendation, especially with more content on the way.
