About Warlore

Warlore - about the game
Win the board before you play the card.

Warlore is first and foremost a board strategy duel. Every match begins with an 11×11 grid, two commanders, and a fight for territory. You place stones, build influence, cut off space, and decide when a single position is worth more than a flashy move.

Cards are not the game. They are tactical tools: a feint, a trap, a tempo swing, a way to punish a weak formation. If your board position is poor, a card will not save you. If your board control is strong, the right card can turn pressure into victory.
How You Play

Each turn you place a stone to claim territory, like Go. But you also hold a hand of strategy cards — feints, ambushes, empty-fort bluffs, banquet traps — that bend the rules in your favor. The catch: cards cost action points, and points are scarce. Spend them wrong and you get walled off; hold them too long and one bold move collapses your position.
⚔ 16 Commanders = 16 Ways to Play

  • Sun Tzu — peeks at one of your cards every turn, reads you before you move
  • Caesar — free first move, seizes the initiative
  • Han Xin — fights with his back to the river, lays ambushes
  • Zhuge Liang — plays the empty fortress, waits you out
  • Hannibal — encircles and grinds you down
  • Oda Nobunaga, Alexander, Saladin, Napoleon… and 7 more

Picking your commander before the match is half the battle. Picking the right card mid-match is the other half.
Why You Won't Put It Down

Every move pulls you two ways. Lock down territory now, or hold your cards and trap them later? Push for the kill, or play safe and win on points? Matches stay tight to the last 30 seconds — there's almost always a comeback if you're sharp enough to find it.

The pressure builds slow. Then it snaps.
Three Modes, One Ruleset

  • Duel — 15-minute 1v1 against 16 commanders, each rewriting the rules
  • Battlefield — a strategic layer with terrain, troop movement and city capture
  • Conquest — roguelite multi-battle runs with a deck that grows as you go

Plus 500 curated challenge stages across 1,500 stars, 30 strategy cards, and a Hard AI that doesn't cheat — it just plays meaner. Before launch we ran 100,000 AI-vs-AI matches to keep every card at a 40–60% win rate and give every commander something to fear. Easy to learn in 5 minutes. Enough depth for 200+ hours.
