Beneath the rust, a hamon sleeps.
A single rusted blade in a dark workshop. You are the polisher.
Take light rust off with the medium stone, save the coarse stone for deep pitting, then bring up the luster with the finishing stone. As the steel shines, the hamon, the temper line left by the forge, rises to the surface.
Every stroke thins the steel
Clearing rust always costs steel. Dig the pitting out to the bottom, or deliver the blade with it still there? Dig too far and the shape warps, and your payment vanishes.
Where you stop is the question at the heart of this game.
Thirty-two blades
You start with a small knife, then a wakizashi, a katana, an ōdachi. Eventually the named blades arrive: Mikazuki Munechika, the cursed Muramasa, the Tonbokiri spear. And from across the sea: Excalibur, a shamshir, a kris, a Chinese guandao.
Every blade looks different. The hamon pattern, the color of the steel, the wrap of the hilt, the shape of the guard and pommel. No two are alike.
There is no failure state
No timers, no debt. Stop whenever you like. The tool shop is always open, and what you buy is never taken away.
Your finished blades stay on display
Every blade you deliver joins a gallery, exactly as you finished it. Walk through and look at them whenever you want.
No AI-generated assets. The blades are mathematics, the workshop is procedural, and the audio is made from free recorded sound material.
