About The Horde Always Wins

The Horde Always Wins - about the game

The Horde Always Wins is an indie idle auto-shooter for PC in which a cube navigates endless waves of enemies while automatically moving and firing. The core loop centers on collecting experience to fund upgrades and scavenging parts dropped by defeated monsters to assemble and refine a weapon. Players shape their loadout through a system of modular components rather than direct control of the action itself.

Gameplay

The cube handles movement and shooting without input, leaving the player to focus on long-term decisions about equipment and tactics. Forty-eight distinct parts fit into eight slots that include barrels, magazines, ammo types, scopes, muzzles, stocks, charms, and underbarrels. Each part appears in one of four rarities and carries random affixes that alter performance. Five families of parts exist: Military, Hunter, Pyro, Cryo, and Storm. Equipping multiple pieces from the same family activates set bonuses, while combining elements from different families produces mixed damage types such as fire, frost, lightning, and explosions.

Spare parts can be sacrificed to raise the level of retained components or to extract a specific effect for grafting onto another part. Up to three complete weapons can be saved as loadouts and swapped instantly during a run. Runes add another layer of customization by carving triggers, effects, and modifiers into the weapon and linking them into circuits. Six triggers, nine effects, and four modifiers are available, each of which can be fused up to rank V. Examples include slowing enemies when health drops, launching a volley after multiple critical hits, or drawing all dropped parts toward the player after defeating an elite.

Part levels have no upper limit, allowing damage values to reach scientific notation and on-screen enemy counts to climb into the thousands. Players adjust the cube's behavior through settings that control its preferred distance from threats, target priority, and loot collection habits. A codex tracks every discovered rune, part, affix, family, monster, upgrade, and perk along with their values at each level and rank.

Game Modes

Standard runs involve surviving against the swarm while pushing threat levels higher. A boss appears every ten threat levels, and reaching threat 100 pits the player against the Swarm Heart. When the horde eventually overwhelms the cube, a prestige option becomes available that trades maximum health for permanent perks before a new run begins. These perks allow subsequent attempts to scale further.

Weekly raids introduce a shared element in which every player confronts the same giant boss on a single health pool. Levels remain synchronized across participants so that build quality determines contribution rather than total playtime. Successful raids reward every participant with a legendary part that includes a fourth affix. Leaderboards track both highest threat reached and longest survival times on weekly and all-time bases.

Progression and Customization

Permanent advancement comes through prestige perks that carry across runs. Cosmetic options expand separately through sixty-seven unlockable items that alter the cube's colors, shapes, eyes, hats, auras, and trails. These visual choices remain visible when a player joins another person's raid.

The overall structure rewards repeated runs that combine part collection, rune circuits, family synergies, and tactical tuning. Numbers scale dramatically, turning each session into an exercise in optimizing an increasingly complex automated system.

Is It Worth Playing?

This title suits players who enjoy incremental progression and the satisfaction of watching automated systems grow stronger over time. The combination of modular weapon building, rune circuits, and prestige mechanics creates depth without requiring constant manual input. Those who prefer direct control or short sessions may find the idle nature less engaging, while fans of numbers-driven gameplay and long-term optimization will find consistent reasons to return for new runs and weekly challenges.
