Dear player,
Tommaso is seven and a half, and tonight he can't sleep. So Grandma Mela takes him to the kitchen, hands him a notebook and his crayons, and tells him about the time when she, at his age, couldn't sleep either, and had to climb the Tower to find her sleep again. You'll play that story while Tommaso draws it, page after page.
A Japanese-style RPG with an Italian heart
Sogni d'Oro is a role-playing game with turn-based battles, exploration and dialogue choices. It was born from classic Japanese RPGs and grew up at grandma's house: slippers, puppets, diapers, a tavern where you can play scopone scientifico, and the odd word of dialect slipping out when you least expect it.
Decide who Mela will become
Before she leaves, Grandma asks Mela what she wants to be when she grows up. Her answer changes the way she fights.
Choose who comes with you
On the way up you'll meet very different travel companions: a puppeteer without a puppet, a baby who fights with her diapers, a dog nobody seems to own. You can welcome them or leave them on their floor, and what you say when you meet them shapes the kind of companions they become. If you feel brave, you can also climb alone.
Spare or defeat
At the end of every battle you win, the choice is yours: spare your enemy or finish them. The creatures of the Tower remember how you fight and adapt.
Your Tower
Every floor is a different world, with its own puzzles, its own enemies and its own guardian to face. The choices you make along the way change the room at the top, the one where Mela can finally fall asleep.
Sooner or later, we all have to climb the Tower. Mela's story gives us a few hints on how it's done.
With love,
Gianbabbeo
