About Project Poker

Project Poker - about the game

Project Poker is a single-player poker simulation for PC that blends strategy, simulation, and casual play. It focuses on realistic opponent behavior and a structured career progression rather than online matchmaking or real-money stakes.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on sitting at virtual tables and making decisions against AI opponents who follow distinct decision profiles. Some lean aggressive with frequent bluffs, while others play tight and disciplined or loose and gamble-heavy. These tendencies influence pot entry rates, betting patterns, and responses to pressure. As tables shorten during a session, the remaining opponents widen their ranges and increase aggression, yet each retains its core style instead of defaulting to identical behavior.

Players control the pace with speed settings at one, two, or three times normal play. After folding, the rest of the hand can advance quickly. Common betting actions have dedicated shortcuts, and the game supports both mouse-and-keyboard and full controller input with remappable controls and adjustable haptics. Audio levels for game sounds, interface, and voices can be balanced independently, and table chat from the AI can be toggled off if desired.

Five cursor themes and independent volume sliders add small personalization options. Lifetime statistics track win rates, championships won, and overall career progress, giving players a clear view of improvement without requiring an internet connection.

Game Modes

Career Mode forms the main single-player experience. It guides players through five distinct poker communities that increase in stakes and prestige. The journey begins with a casual weekly garage game and advances toward the high-end Diamond Lounge. Each venue features its own regulars, atmosphere, and championship event. Recurring characters bring individual backstories, personalities, and playing styles, supported by more than 2,800 lines of dialogue that react to table events such as big pots, bad beats, successful bluffs, and ongoing rivalries.

Reputation growth unlocks additional conversations and deeper interactions with these characters. Bankroll management drives progression into tougher rooms, while winning and defending championships builds Legend prestige. Custom games allow full control over table composition and opponent selection, and separate difficulty presets range from relaxed sessions to challenging tables that punish mistakes.

Four poker variants are available: Five Card Draw, Texas Hold'em, Omaha, and Pineapple. Interactive tutorials in the Learn Poker section introduce the rules and mechanics of each variant for newcomers.

Accessibility and Controls

Project Poker runs entirely offline with no requirement for lobbies, matchmaking, or other players. Sessions can start at any time and pause mid-career for later resumption. Controller support extends to haptics and remapping, while keyboard shortcuts speed up common actions. Players who prefer a slower pace can stay at normal speed, and those who want quicker resolution can use the fast-forward options after folding.

Statistics tracking covers win rates, titles defended, and long-term progress, yet every feature remains optional. Audio, chat, and interface elements can be disabled or adjusted to suit personal preference without affecting core play.

Is It Worth Playing?

Project Poker suits players who want a focused, offline poker experience with consistent AI opponents and a clear progression path. The emphasis on varied decision profiles and reactive dialogue creates a sense of personality at the table that many single-player poker titles lack. Career Mode provides structure through its community ladder and championship goals, while custom options and speed controls let users tailor sessions to their schedule and skill level.

Those who enjoy studying opponent tendencies, managing bankrolls across increasing stakes, and learning multiple variants in one package will find the systems rewarding. The game avoids online dependencies and real-money elements, making it a straightforward choice for solo practice or relaxed play on PC. If the appeal lies in simulation depth and character-driven tables rather than social or competitive multiplayer, the title delivers a self-contained experience built around those priorities.
