About Dungeons & Dynasties

Dungeons & Dynasties - about the game

Dungeons & Dynasties is a strategy RPG simulation that blends guild management with procedural dungeon survival on PC. Players take charge of one of 72 rival guilds in a kingless realm, building a lasting dynasty through weekly fixtures that unfold as dungeon expeditions rather than traditional matches.

Gameplay

The core loop centers on preparing a squad of four heroes for each fixture. Squad building involves selecting members, assigning gambits, and equipping them based on anticipated conditions inside the procedural dungeon. Flooded ground slows melee fighters, pitch darkness hampers archers, and cursed terrain drains health steadily. Named synergies, such as pairing a Guardian with a Cleric to activate the Sanctuary Engine, reward thoughtful composition. Scouting reveals boss mechanics in advance, while quiet rooms present narrative choices that hinge on the heroes present. Gear discovered during the run equips automatically according to each hero's temperament, which can lead to a greedy member claiming an item or a veteran sacrificing themselves in retreat.

Heroes carry ambitions, flaws, loyalties, and grudges that evolve through experience. A near-death encounter leaves a scar, while a successful clear forges a virtue. Over time these traits solidify into archetypes like Prodigy, Iron Veteran, or Dungeonborn. Friendships and rivalries develop organically, sometimes creating named Nemeses. Each hero operates under a sworn Oath with a set wage and term. When the contract ends, players negotiate renewal, meet the new demands, or watch the hero depart for another guild. Permanent death removes the individual from the roster, yet their influence persists through memorials, bloodlines, and lingering relationships that can trigger crisis returns or mentorships later.

Game Modes

The primary structure is a six-tier league pyramid featuring promotion, relegation, cups, and festivals. The annual Crucible serves as the realm championship, where victory grants control of the realm until the next contest. Quests send bench heroes across the map for loot, seasoning, and renown. Ironman mode enforces a single save file with no reloads, ending the run if the patron is lost. The Chronicle records every season as generated prose drawn directly from events, including results, casualties, and defining dramas, and it remains shareable as text or cards.

Additional systems include a transfer market with loans, poaching, and fire sales, plus patron politics, finances, scouting, staff hiring, and facility management. The Herald delivers a live feed of talent, collapsing houses, and regional wars. A generated Compendium and Bestiary document all mechanics without fabrication.

The Realm and Its History

The hand-drawn realm consists of seven regions populated by distinct peoples and terrain. All 72 guilds occupy real towns on the map, often sharing cities with rivals and creating natural derbies. Wars affect entire regions, boosting resolve for heroes with local ties while penalizing those who ignore the call. A forty-five-year pre-existing history seeds each campaign, and the simulation generates the world map entirely in code for every new save.

Facilities such as the Training Yard and Tavern support recruitment and development. The Quartermaster handles purchases, while relics grant lasting traits. Staff and backroom roles round out the management layer, allowing focus on long-term dynasty building over individual hero control.

Is It Worth Playing?

Dungeons & Dynasties suits players who enjoy deep simulation combined with narrative emergence and permanent consequences. The emphasis on hero personalities, evolving relationships, and a true chronicle that records actual events creates investment in outcomes beyond simple wins and losses. Those drawn to management sims with tactical squad preparation and procedural challenges will find the weekly dungeon fixtures engaging, especially when conditions and synergies force adaptive planning. The full 1.0 release includes the complete league structure, hero systems, and seasonal progression, with continued patches addressing refinements. Players seeking stories that arise organically from simulation rather than scripted sequences will appreciate the approach, while those preferring direct combat control or lighter management may prefer other titles. The game remains available on PC with ongoing development support.
