About Depth Diggers

Depth Diggers - about the game

Depth Diggers is a single-player incremental mining game developed by a solo creator in Spain. Players descend into a mine shaft on PC, limited by a set number of swings per expedition, gather resources, and return to invest in permanent upgrades that carry forward without any prestige or full resets. The experience centers on steady, session-friendly progress through four distinct underground zones filled with unique rock types, lighting, and boss encounters.

Gameplay

Each expedition begins at the surface camp and moves downward through the Rocky Surface, Quartz Caverns, Obsidian Abyss, and finally the Core of the Abyss. Progress depends on swings rather than time, allowing players to click at their own speed or hold the button once Cadence is unlocked. Resources collected fund upgrades in the Workshop, a radial tree offering 55 upgrades across 309 levels that improve mining efficiency and capabilities permanently.

Pitbots rescued from the rock join the crew as named companions with individual traits. These robots continue digging even when the player pauses, and they can be equipped with gear across four rarity tiers. The Forge processes ore into ingots automatically, including during offline periods. Additional systems include the Barracks for crew management and item fusion, a Display Case for 12 relics that advance from level I to V, and a Trophy Wall tracking 13 achievements. The Foreman's Logbook records statistics and provides details on every block type encountered.

Hidden elements such as gunpowder charges, geodes, bedrock formations, treasure chests, and secret chambers add variety to each run. Contracts taken before descending provide extra rewards, while four active abilities and six temporary boosts offer tactical options during expeditions. The surface town expands through scrolling exploration, tying together all progression systems into one cohesive base.

Game Modes

Depth Diggers features a single core loop built around repeated expeditions rather than separate named modes. Every descent uses a fixed swing limit, encouraging focused resource gathering before ascending to apply permanent improvements. The absence of resets or prestige systems means each expedition contributes directly to long-term strength, with Pitbots and upgrades persisting across runs.

Boss encounters serve as structured challenges within this loop. The Quartz Warden requires locating its weak point, the Obsidian Warden demands breaking shards to expose armor, the Magma Warden involves surviving lava phases and shield mechanics, and the Core of the Abyss presents the final confrontation. Boss damage carries over between expeditions, creating incremental advancement toward victory without altering the fundamental expedition structure.

Progression and Base Building

Upgrades remain available indefinitely, eliminating traditional grinding walls. The Workshop tree supports deep customization through its many levels, while the Forge and Barracks enable passive resource conversion and crew optimization. Relics in the Display Case provide additional scaling, and achievements on the Trophy Wall reward consistent play. Short expedition lengths suit players who prefer frequent, manageable sessions over extended commitments.

Secrets scattered throughout the rock layers reward careful exploration, and contracts add optional objectives before each trip. The overall design emphasizes automation through Pitbots and offline Forge activity, allowing progress to continue even when the player steps away.

Is It Worth Playing?

Depth Diggers appeals to fans of incremental and idle-style games who value permanent progression without resets or prestige layers. Its focus on short, self-contained expeditions and a growing base makes it suitable for casual play on PC, with support for English, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese. The single-developer origin and pixel-art presentation deliver a focused experience centered on mining, robot companions, and boss progression across four zones.

With no user reviews available at launch and a coming-soon status on its platform, the game targets those drawn to automation mechanics, resource management, and steady advancement through named systems like Pitbots, the Workshop tree, and zone-specific wardens. Players seeking relaxing, pick-up-and-play sessions with visible long-term gains will find its structure aligns well with that preference.
