About Cyber Commanders

Cyber Commanders - about the game

Cyber Commanders is a turn-based strategy game for PC that blends chess-style positioning with poker-like bluffing and elements of chance. Developed as an indie title, it supports 2 to 6 players in matches where participants deploy units or decoys, maneuver across a changing battlefield, and eliminate opposing commanders while safeguarding their own.

Gameplay

The core loop revolves around three distinct phases each round. Players first select actions simultaneously from their personal inventory. Deployment follows in turn order, after which movement and attacks resolve. Actions carry success probabilities that shift based on world influence, and failed attempts leave units vulnerable to environmental hazards such as spreading fire or disabling ooze.

Each match begins with a commander piece that functions as the central objective. Losing it ends the game for that player. Protection comes through careful positioning, defensive upgrades, and misdirection. Opponents must decide whether to commit resources against potential threats or risk overlooking a genuine danger.

Bluffing forms a key layer of tactics. Real units occupy space and deal damage, while holograms appear identical yet always succeed in deployment. Opponents may waste attacks scanning or striking decoys, creating opportunities for the bluffing player to advance real forces or gather information.

The battlefield evolves dynamically. Corpses remain for potential resurrection, alien ooze can disable equipment, and shifting influence alters deployment odds for different action types. These changes reward adaptive planning over rigid strategies.

Game Modes

Matches accommodate 2 to 6 participants through public lobbies or private sessions. Turn timers offer flexibility: shorter durations suit faster-paced games, while longer intervals support deeper strategic consideration. The structure remains consistent across player counts, though larger groups increase interaction density and the frequency of environmental events.

Single-player options exist against AI opponents, allowing practice with the selection, deployment, and movement phases. Multiplayer emphasis centers on human opponents who react to bluffs and adapt to battlefield shifts in real time.

Actions and Progression

Players enter each match with up to 18 actions drawn from a pool that includes units, strikes, upgrades, boosts, defenses, spreaders, and specialized tools such as Worm Hole, Resurrect, Hypnotize, Genetic Twist, and Holo Scanner. One item, the Holo Scanner, provides unlimited uses for revealing decoys. The remaining selections are single-use and randomly assigned at the start of every game.

Performance determines earnings in N₵ credits. Wins, kills, commander eliminations, successful hologram scans, and overall match results contribute to the total. Credits unlock additional actions and abilities for future matches, gradually expanding available options and strategic depth over repeated play.

Is It Worth Playing?

Cyber Commanders appeals to players who enjoy tactical decision-making under uncertainty. The combination of positioning, bluffing, and probabilistic outcomes creates matches where preparation meets adaptability. Those seeking quick sessions or extended strategy battles can adjust timers accordingly.

The game remains in active development with ongoing updates to mechanics and features. Availability centers on multiplayer and AI practice modes. Individuals drawn to hybrid board-game experiences on PC may find value in testing its systems, particularly if they appreciate games that reward observation of opponent patterns and environmental management. No aggregate review scores exist at this stage of release.
