About Bone Bazaar

Bone Bazaar - about the game

Bone Bazaar is a turn-based arena RPG set in the Greek underworld where players control a skeleton gladiator fighting for freedom. The game combines strategic combat with resource management and light progression systems across a series of fixed challenges and an optional endless mode. Developed as a single-player experience for PC, it emphasizes deliberate choices in each round rather than fast reflexes or complex builds.

Gameplay

Combat unfolds in rounds where both the player and opponent select one action from a shared pool. Available moves include stepping forward or back, striking, leaping, throwing a bone, taunting, or resting. Stamina limits how many actions a fighter can take, while arena distance determines whether melee or ranged attacks connect. Slings and bows lose accuracy at close range, forcing players to manage positioning carefully throughout the fight.

Critical hits can shatter an opponent's helmet, armor, or shield permanently for that encounter. Different weapon types interact with defenses in specific ways: hammers excel at breaking armor, spears pierce through it, and flails arc over shields. Equipment on both sides degrades over time, adding risk to prolonged engagements.

Between rounds, players visit the Bonesmith to attempt weapon upgrades up to +3. Each attempt carries a chance of failure, and upgrades at +2 or higher risk cracking the blade. Hecate offers three enchantment options that alter damage types or add effects. The crowd's cheer meter rises with successful hits, dodges, and taunts, allowing players to spend accumulated cheers on spells such as Bone Armor or Soul Drain. Poor performance causes the crowd to boo, reducing available resources.

Four undead companions can be recruited to accompany the gladiator through the bazaar and provide occasional assistance during fights. Between arenas, players explore the Bone Bazaar to purchase weapons, armor, spells, and perks, while handling side activities like catching a soul thief or solving a ghost's riddle for bonuses.

Game Modes

The core experience centers on a linear campaign structure. Players must clear four distinct arenas, each featuring environmental hazards such as spike plates and fire vents. Seventeen opponents appear across these arenas, culminating in four boss encounters against Mouldy Max, Queen Chalkhide, Cerberus, and Hades. Victory in the final confrontation fulfills the promise of freedom, though the outcome remains uncertain.

After completing the main sequence, the Eternal Arena unlocks as an endless survival challenge. This mode sends continuous waves of enemies and introduces shadow versions of the bosses, testing long-term resource management and adaptation without a fixed endpoint.

Three difficulty levels adjust the overall challenge, and a tutorial integrates directly into the first fight. Three save slots support multiple playthroughs, while thirty achievements track progress across combat, forging, and exploration elements.

Progression and Customization

Fourteen weapons form the foundation of combat options, supported by helmets, armor, shields, and cosmetic skins. Ten perks and seven stats allow incremental character growth between fights. Animated story scenes advance the narrative as arenas are cleared.

The visual style uses pixel art rendered at 480x270 resolution and controlled entirely with the mouse. The game supports English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, and Chinese (Pinyin) for interface and subtitles.

Is It Worth Playing?

Bone Bazaar suits players who enjoy deliberate, tactical combat in a compact single-player package. The round-by-round decision making, armor-breaking mechanics, and crowd-cheer system create meaningful choices that reward observation and adaptation over grinding or luck. Those interested in short sessions with clear progression toward a finale will find the four-arena structure accessible, while the Eternal Arena provides ongoing challenge for completionists.

The game includes a tutorial, multiple difficulty options, and save slots that lower the barrier for new players. Its focused scope and pixel-art presentation appeal to fans of indie strategy and RPG titles that prioritize mechanics over expansive worlds. With no multiplayer components or seasonal content confirmed, the experience remains self-contained and replayable through different difficulty settings and achievement hunting.
