The Crew 2 is an open-world racing game set across a detailed recreation of the United States. Players take control of a wide range of vehicles on land, in the air, and on water, switching between them instantly to complete races and explore the map. The Season Pass expands this experience by granting immediate access to 25 vehicles, including three exclusives such as the Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 1993, the Supermarine Spitfire MK IX, and the Ice Marine Bladerunner 35 2016. It also provides a permanent 20 percent discount on in-game purchases, an extra home location for displaying vehicles, and two unique avatar outfits.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on progressing through four main disciplines while traveling the open world. Street Racing focuses on urban circuits and high-speed chases. Off-road events test handling on dirt tracks and rugged terrain. Freestyle emphasizes aerial stunts and creative maneuvers. Pro Racing delivers competitive track events with high-performance machines. Players join different motorsports groups that supply new vehicles and challenges tied to each style. Customization covers performance upgrades, liveries, and visual options, with the Season Pass discount making it easier to expand collections quickly. The map spans coast to coast, allowing seamless travel between cities, mountains, deserts, and waterways without loading screens.
Game Modes
Events break down into discipline-specific races and open challenges that can be tackled solo or with others. Weekly summits deliver time-limited competitions with leaderboards and rewards. PvP options include direct races against other players. Crew systems let groups form for shared activities and progression. The hybrid mode update introduced in 2025 allows switching between full online features and a dedicated offline session. Offline play preserves core progression and vehicle use while limiting access to live events, multiplayer matches, and certain community features. This setup supports both connected sessions with friends and solo play without an internet requirement.
Vehicle Variety and Progression
The roster includes hypercars, classic muscle cars, motorcycles, planes, boats, and specialty machines like hovercrafts. The Season Pass vehicles add immediate options across categories, with exclusives unavailable to non-pass owners. Progression involves earning in-game currency through events to unlock additional rides and parts. Factions tied to each discipline guide story beats and reward structures. Regular free updates have added new content over the years, keeping the world active even after the main post-launch seasons concluded.
Current State on Xbox Series X|S
The game runs on Xbox Series X|S with support for the hybrid mode that preserves saves across online and offline sessions. Performance targets stable frame rates in the large open world. The Season Pass content integrates directly into the base experience, providing the listed vehicles and perks from the start. No ongoing seasonal content drops occur at present, but the existing map, disciplines, and customization systems remain fully functional.
Is It Worth Playing?
Player reception on Steam stands at Mostly Positive based on nearly 100,000 reviews. The hybrid mode addition addresses previous connectivity concerns and extends accessibility. Those who enjoy large-scale open-world driving with frequent vehicle changes and a mix of solo races and optional multiplayer will find the core systems engaging. The Season Pass delivers strong value through its vehicle access and discount for players planning to expand their garage. It suits fans of arcade-style racing who want freedom across land, air, and sea without strict simulation rules. New players can start with the base game and add the pass later if the variety appeals.
