You run with the Charter crew: A network of couriers, fixers and data brokers driving the new attention economy, built on identity and exclusivity. Between jobs, base is where favors get traded, introductions happen, and trust is built and broken.
A Skillset of Place
Movement is your language, and technique is everything: passed down by senior runners, refined on real routes, and guarded like tradecraft.聽Earn their approval, fold their knowledge in to your lines and peel back The City in layers鈥攏ew routes, new vantage points, new ways through previously closed spaces.
The City does not hand you its layout. Build your navigational skills by exploring聽sightlines and landmarks. Remember them. You will only have a compass to keep you oriented.
The Work That Still Exists
A secret contract economy runs beneath abundance. Jobs come in through anonymous forums and message boards, paying whatever is sought after. Access tokens and off-grid favors. Data and compute time.
Some runs are simple handoffs, others chain into multi-stop jobs where routes and delivery condition matter as much as time or distance.聽
The equipment you bring defines the tier of contract you can take. Storage upgrades expand how much you can carry. Specialized kits protect high-value payloads and make riskier jobs viable.聽
A courier's life runs on jobs, salvage or whatever fits in their bag.
PANLET
Your piece of PANLINE.聽
An off-the-shelf device jailbroken and customized by your crew, turning it into the perfect runner鈥檚 keyring. It is also physical kit, and can fail in the field. Bad landings and slips can crack it, forcing you to repair it before you can rely on it again. Firmware upgrades expand what it can do, opening up infrastructure access in The City.
Falls wipe you:聽What you carry is what you risk, and progress only counts once you make it back to base.
Learning New Movement: New techniques come from senior runners, look for them on the rooftops.
Non-linear open city:聽Pick a direction and run. Don't forget the way you came from.聽聽
Pure navigation:聽No map. Landmarks, memory and your compass is everything you need to keep yourself oriented.聽
Day/Night structure:聽 Run during the day and return to base at night to consolidate, until you get your Night Running Pass.
Salvage: Items found in The City enable repairs, upgrades, and the ability to take riskier contracts.
Inventory pressure: Limited space. Secured slots keep your most valuable cargo safe after slip ups.
Procedural jobs: Work appears dynamically through boards and contacts. Keep an eye out for the type of payout you need.
PANLET Hacks:聽Bring up your PANLET and manipulate the city's infrastructure to suit your needs.
District progression: New areas open when your movement, PANLET capability, and social reach are advanced enough to operate there.
Runner's Hideout:聽Repair gear, upgrade your loadout, manage your stash and spend your favors at night to get ready for the next day.
