About Hero's Guild

Hero's Guild - about the game

```
Your heroes are not expendable. They have names. They have friends. They have lovers. And when they die, your guild will never be the same.
Hero's Guild is a deep management roguelike where you run an adventurer's guild. Recruit heroes from the tavern, train them, equip them with crafted gear, and send parties into dangerous dungeons. But unlike other games, your heroes aren't just stats—they're people with relationships, personalities, and stories that emerge naturally through play.
HEROES WHO FEEL REAL
Every hero has a unique personality shaped by 22 different traits. A Gregarious warrior makes friends everywhere. A Jealous rogue starts conflicts. A Psychopath feels nothing when allies die.
Watch as your heroes develop complex relationships across 10 tiers—from bitter Enemies and Hostile rivals to inseparable Devoted companions. They'll argue, reconcile, fall in love, get married at your chapel, or swear blood feuds that tear your guild apart. A scorned ex-lover may refuse to adventure with the one who broke their heart. A widowed hero carries grief forever.
When mood breaks, so do heroes. Push them too hard and they may desert, go berserk, or confess secrets that destroy friendships. Manage their wellbeing at the tavern with drinks, feasts, gambling nights, or hire a bard to lift spirits.
MEANINGFUL PERMADEATH
Death is permanent. But it's also meaningful.
When a hero falls, their friends grieve. Lovers may never recover. After three days, you'll hold a burial ceremony at your chapel, and their name joins the memorial of the fallen.
But heroes protect each other. Send close friends into battle and they may intervene to save each other's lives—taking a killing blow meant for their companion. Best friends get +30% death save chance. Devoted lovers will die for each other.
The relationships you build become your greatest defense against permadeath.
RIMWORLD-STYLE BODY PART SYSTEM
Combat leaves lasting marks. Heroes can suffer injuries to 25 individual body parts—from eyes and ears to arms, legs, and vital organs. A damaged arm reduces combat effectiveness. A destroyed eye impairs accuracy. A wounded leg slows movement.
Three tiers of prosthetics let you restore function:
  • Basic (50% efficiency): Peg legs, wooden hands, glass eyes
  • Standard (80% efficiency): Mechanical prosthetics at higher Infirmary levels
  • Enchanted (125% efficiency): Magical replacements that exceed natural ability
Craft prosthetics at your Workshop and install them at the Infirmary. A hero with two enchanted arms may be stronger than ever—but they'll never forget the battle that maimed them.
DEEP CHARACTER PROGRESSION
Multiple interlocking progression systems ensure every hero feels unique:
  • Levels 1-100 with exponential scaling—reaching max level is a true achievement
  • 76-node passive skill tree with multi-tier nodes (up to 5 levels each) and 9 powerful keystones
  • Skill gems that socket into equipment with support gem linking
  • Paragon system for endless post-100 progression
  • Ascendancy classes unlocked through legendary trials
Plus 10 weapon proficiencies, 10 general skills, and monster knowledge that grows with every kill.
Lifetime statistics track every hero's complete career: total damage dealt, healing done, monsters slain, bosses defeated, drinks consumed, days spent training, and times they narrowly cheated death.
STRATEGIC DUNGEON CRAWLING
Choose how to experience dungeons:
Supervised expeditions let you control every room. Use command points to activate tactical commands, change stances, search for secrets, or order emergency retreats. Watch turn-based combat unfold with threat systems, critical hits, and boss phases.
Fog of war keeps exploration tense—you can only see adjacent rooms until you explore further. Unknown dangers lurk in the darkness.
Unsupervised expeditions auto-resolve based on your tactical presets—send multiple parties simultaneously while you manage your guild. But remember: no supervision means no intervention when things go wrong.
Explore 7 unique environments—from cursed crypts to volcanic depths—each with distinct enemies, hazards, and loot. Navigate 11 different room types including shops to buy supplies, events with meaningful choices, traps that test your skills, and secret chambers with rare treasures.
Boss fights appear in 3+ star difficulty missions, challenging your party with unique abilities and phase transitions.
BUILD YOUR GUILD
Start with a modest hall and grow into a legendary guild:
14 facilities to construct and upgrade across 5 tiers:
  • Tavern for recruitment and 4 morale activities (drinks, feast, gambling, bard nights)
  • Forge, Workshop, Alchemy Lab for crafting 158 recipes including prosthetics
  • Chapel for blessings, memorials, and burial ceremonies
  • Training Yard with sparring, tournaments, and weapon specialization
  • Infirmary with prosthetic installation and crippling injury treatment
  • Armory (vault) for dedicated item storage and management
Unlock production facilities through special story missions. Manage 5 tiers of materials from common wood to legendary Phoenix Wood.
Rise through 7 guild ranks (F to S) to unlock more expedition slots, better recruits, and prestige missions with massive reputation rewards.
RIVAL GUILDS
You're not the only guild in town. Rival guilds compete for contracts, poach your heroes, and spread rumors about your reputation.
Each rival has a distinct personality—Aggressive guilds challenge you to arena fights, Scheming guilds sabotage your facilities, Mercantile guilds compete for lucrative contracts, and Honorable guilds might become valuable allies.
Build relationships from hostile to allied. Accept joint missions, trade resources, or crush them in public tournaments. The political landscape shifts based on your choices.
EQUIPMENT WITH PERSONALITY
Heroes develop attachment to their gear. Use a weapon long enough and they'll become Comfortable, then Favorite, then Prized, and finally Soulbound. Unequip a soulbound item and watch their mood plummet.
8 famous forges craft equipment with distinct styles—from premium Valdris elegance to controversial Grimforge mass-production. Heroes develop brand loyalty and boycotts:
"Thalia refuses to wear Grimforge armor. Says it's 'unethical.' Meanwhile, Garrett won't touch anything that isn't Kothric-made—calls everything else 'flimsy elf-craft.'"
"Had the perfect sword for Marcus, but it's Blackmoor-branded and he's boycotting them after the scandal. Guess it goes to someone else."
"Elena loves flashy gear. I gave her a practical iron helm and she complained for three days straight. 'It doesn't match my aesthetic.' She's a warrior, not a fashion model!"
Forge scandals create drama—when news breaks about unethical practices at a famous forge, heroes who love that brand suffer mood penalties. Heroes with rival forge preferences might even feel vindicated.
EMERGENT STORYTELLING
No two playthroughs are alike.
Maybe your best warrior falls in love with your healer, and they fight harder together (+25% damage synergy). Maybe they have a bitter argument and refuse to party together. Maybe one dies, and the other's grief spirals into a mental break.
Traits modify everything—Charming heroes build relationships faster, Loners rarely interact, and Psychopaths feel almost nothing.
Heroes take personal days when stressed, citing low energy, bad moods, or just needing time off. They might refuse missions, insist on different party compositions, or get too hungover to adventure.
Your guild's story writes itself through systems, not scripts.
THE ROSTER PUZZLE
You're not a god moving chess pieces. You're a guild master herding cats—brilliant, deadly, emotionally unstable cats who sometimes fall in love with each other and sometimes try to kill each other.
"I had to send Aldric and Theron together even though they hate each other, because Elena refused to go back to the Crypt (her brother died there), Marcus was hungover, and Sofia took a personal day. It was a disaster—they fought the whole time—but they made it. Barely. Now Theron has 'grudging respect.' Aldric still hates him. I love this game."
"Send my best healer? She won't work with the tank (he killed her pet rabbit in a drunken rage three weeks ago). Send the backup? He's on a pilgrimage. Send the third choice? She's insisting on joining the OTHER mission because her rival went there and she needs to prove herself."
"Had to bench my legendary warrior because he's sulking. His girlfriend broke up with him. He'll be fine in two days. In the meantime, my B-team has to clear the dungeon. Character building, I guess?"
"My best ranger lost her arm to a troll. Took three weeks to craft a prosthetic, but now she's got an enchanted arm that's actually BETTER than the original. She's still bitter about the troll though."
"Gave my cleric new robes. She complained they were 'too plain' and 'not her style.' Mood penalty for three days. THEY'RE LEGENDARY ROBES. Heroes are such divas."
This isn't a bug. This is the game.
