"Deep Within the Mist" is a narrative-driven 2D RPG where players follow the protagonist, Ruo Xi(若曦), to explore the hidden secrets of the world.
Story
The story takes place after Earth encounters a catastrophe, transforming the world into a desolate wasteland. With the spread of a massive mist, the surviving human population is divided into isolated regions. Once thriving in a high-tech civilization, the world has now fallen into a dark age.
After countless years, the protagonist, Ruo Xi, driven by past experiences from her childhood, embarks on a journey to uncover the source of the disaster. However, the dreams that Ruo Xi experiences seem to reveal even deeper secrets of the world.
The game will consist of a prologue, Chapters 1-3, and a final conclusion, with multiple possible endings.
In addition to several Bad Endings, there is a single True Ending for players to discover.
Exploration
Each chapter will feature distinct areas for exploration. As players journey through these regions, they will learn about the human survivors of the post-apocalyptic world, uncover their individual stories and fates, and gradually reveal the deeper truths behind the world's devastation.
Some areas in the game are dangerous and harbor various enemies and traps. While exploring, players must carefully dodge traps and solve intricate puzzles hidden within the environment.
Combat
The combat system of "Deep Within the Mist" combines traditional turn-based mechanics, bullet hell dodging, and parrying. Players can freely choose their combat strategy, whether by dodging enemy attacks and exploiting their weaknesses or by parrying incoming attacks to end battles swiftly.
The protagonist, Ruo Xi, does not have traditional health points. Instead, combat revolves around analyzing enemy weaknesses. Once the analysis reaches 100%, Ruo Xi can deal a fatal blow. If the turns run out, Ruo Xi must escape, causing the danger level of the area to rise.
When the danger level reaches 100%, the game will come to an end.
