With your Ol' Reliable Shotgun you will face the oncoming apocalypse alone. The longer you survive the bigger the horde, they will stop at nothing to defeat you, so make it a worthy battle to the death. Your shotgun can be used for more than just killing, as the knockback is strong enough to send you flying. A well placed shot to the ground will open the skies for traversal, but you can't be wasteful with your ammo.

Why would you need anything other than a perfectly powerful Shotgun? The pump action shotgun is the most iconic weapon in the genre. From mob bosses to the cult heroes.
