Le Tapis Vert is a casual strategy game that collects classic card and board games into a single offline-friendly package for PC. Developed by the independent French studio Petit Vaisseau, it focuses on familiar titles suited for relaxed sessions with family or solo play rather than competitive online ladders.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on straightforward turns with familiar rules for each included game. Players select from a menu of options and follow clear on-screen prompts, with the option to view rules at any moment. Three difficulty settings adjust the computer opponent in solo matches, allowing beginners to learn while more experienced players face stronger resistance. Games save automatically, so sessions can pause and resume without losing progress. The interface supports both English and French, with seamless switching available in settings. Everything runs locally on the machine except for the limited online option between two players.
Game Modes
Solo play pits the user against the computer across most titles, with adjustable difficulty. Pass-and-play supports multiple participants on one screen, keeping hidden information private between turns. Online play is restricted to Up & Down the River and Crazy Eights, using a simple code system for connection; the game resumes automatically if the link drops. Specific games include Belote, Whist, and Hearts for trick-taking; Rummy, President, and Golf for other card formats; Solitaire and FreeCell for solitary card puzzles; Four in a Row, Checkers, Reversi, and Backgammon for board strategy; Horse Race for up to four participants; Sea Battle and Radar for grid-based deduction; plus Yatzy, Sudoku, Pairs, 2048, Word Guess, Quiz, and Riddles for lighter puzzles.
Key Features
One purchase unlocks the full collection with no additional purchases or advertisements. All content functions offline aside from the two online-supported games. Long matches benefit from the built-in save system, and rules remain accessible throughout. The bilingual support extends to the interface, rules text, and certain word-based games. The single-developer origin emphasizes a focused, no-frills presentation centered on the games themselves.
Is It Worth Playing?
Le Tapis Vert suits players seeking a convenient digital home for traditional card and board games without subscriptions or distractions. Its strength lies in the variety of verified classics combined with flexible local and limited online options. Those who enjoy Belote with family, quick solitaire sessions, or occasional pass-and-play rounds will find reliable execution here. As an upcoming release scheduled for October 2026, it currently has no player reviews available, but the confirmed feature set aligns closely with the needs of casual strategy fans who value offline access and straightforward mechanics. The absence of monetization layers further supports its appeal for repeated, uninterrupted play.
