USS Maryland (BB-46) is the third ship of the Colorado class, she was launched in 1920 and is one of the last American “super-dreadnoughts.”
Her firepower is particularly impressive, with a main battery of eight 406 mm guns capable of firing both powerful HE and AP rounds. The supporting batteries consist of eight twin 127 mm mounts, twelve quadruple 40 mm mounts, and two dual 40 mm mounts — rounded off by a grand total of forty 20 mm cannons! She also boasts thick armor across the belt and turret faces, and can still reach a respectable top speed for a battleship!
