With a history spanning over 160 years, the Rosenheim - Salzburg railway has long been a line of vital importance between Germany and Austria. Originally envisaged as early as 1828, it took many years of theorising, designing, and funding to construct. Today, the line is a key corridor for all manners of traffic and has been subject to constant improvements over the decades.
A new journey awaits through the German state of Bavaria. From the classic cab of a 1970s legend, the DB BR 111, accelerate out of the city of Rosenheim on regional, yet international services. Wind your way through the countryside and cross the border into Austria, coming to rest in musical Salzburg. Alongside the 111, a medley of motive power accompanies the ranks, including the BR 185.2 and Ă–BB 4024 for freight and S-Bahn duty.
