The airport is owned by the County of San Diego and is named after Gerald McClellan, an aviator and civic leader in San Diego's North County area.
The airport covers 466 acres (189ha) and has a 1,493 metre long asphalt runway. In 2008, the airport saw an average of 529 aircraft operations per day.
The SIM720 McClellan-Palomar Airport download has been created as a replica of the real world site.
