Elder Scrolls Online brings back the Thieves Guild July 8

The Thieves Guild is back, and this time they're setting up shop in Glenumbra. Bethesda and ZeniMax are kicking off a whole new era for The Elder Scrolls Online on July 8, and the headliner is a fresh Thieves Guild questline that lands about ten years after the crew first pulled off jobs in Hew's Bane.

This is the start of ESO's new Season One structure, and honestly it looks stacked. You get the new Thieves Guild story in Glenumbra, a six-part romp with Sheogorath (yes, the Prince of Madness is dragging you across Tamriel again), and a pile of criminal side content: caravan holdups, merchant sabotage, cargo theft, the works. There's even naval combat where you board enemy ships and loot whatever they're hauling. Pirate fantasy, unlocked.

What's actually in it

Beyond the heist stuff, Update 50 rolls in alongside the season and gives the Warden class a proper refresh, which Warden mains have been begging for. There's also the first brand-new base game trial since the launch build back in 2014, plus three new content systems layered on top. That's a lot for a single drop.

The best part? If you own the base game, most of it is free. Bethesda quietly folded the old Thieves Guild DLC into the base game last month, so even if you never bought it, it's yours now. No excuses.

It's live across everything: PC on Steam and Epic, Mac, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. ESO has been on a bit of a roll lately, and shifting to a seasonal model feels like ZeniMax trying to keep the MMO fresh without waiting a full year between big chapters. Smart move, if they can keep the quality up.

Are you jumping back into Tamriel for this one, or has ESO lost you somewhere along the way? Drop it in the comments.
