NBA 2K27 Cover Athletes: Wembanyama, Clark, Rose

2K finally stopped teasing and put names to the covers: Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark and Derrick Rose are fronting NBA 2K27. After days of that little countdown clock ticking away on 2K's socials, the reveal landed on July 22, and it is a lineup with an actual story behind it.

Here is how the three editions shake out. Wembanyama takes the Standard Edition (69.99 USD), the guy who already looks like a cheat code in real life. Caitlin Clark headlines the Deluxe Edition (99.99 USD), and this is the one people will be talking about. Derrick Rose gets the Ultra Edition (149.99 USD), a nice full-circle moment for someone who was on the cover of NBA 2K13 all those years ago.

Caitlin Clark makes history

Clark is the first WNBA player to ever front her own global NBA 2K cover. That is not a small footnote. The women's game has been climbing for a while now, and getting a solo edition on the biggest basketball series on the planet is the kind of moment that actually moves the needle. She put it plainly in her cover statement: women's basketball gets to show up on that stage too. Hard to argue.

Rose, meanwhile, gets to look back on the whole ride, from the 2K13 cover to having a full edition named after him on NBA 2K27. And Wembanyama as the face of the standard release? About as inevitable as it gets.

Release date and platforms

Mark the calendar: NBA 2K27 launches worldwide on September 4, 2026. Grab the Deluxe or Ultra edition and you can jump in early on August 28. It is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch 2, so pretty much every current box is covered.

No gameplay trailer yet, just the covers and the editions, but that usually means the deep dives are right around the corner. We will be keeping an eye on the MyTeam and MyCareer reveals once 2K starts drip-feeding them.
